Stevens Point, WI - Twelve members of the Stevens Point Composite Squadron, including nine cadets, received an important component of ground team member training by completing a first aid/CPR course on Saturday, September 27. The course was taught by one of the squadron's senior members, Jim Johnson.  

The two-session course covered approximately eight hours of classroom and hands-on instruction.  Participants practiced important first aid techniques on each other and also used CPR mannequins.  

Senior Member Johnson became a certified Red Cross instructor in August.  Johnson brings to the unit 27 years of  experience in both active military and reserve duty, including Navy Seal and Army Special forces training.  He has had experience as a volunteer fire fighter, and at one time held remote trauma certification.  He also has a degree in X-ray technology.  Since joining Civil Air Patrol in March 2008 he has become very active in the Stevens Point squadron's ground team training as well as other activities.
