Cadets from Madison and Baraboo came together to present the colors in honor of those who serve/have served our country. From left to right, Cadet Sean Patchin (Madison), Cadet Charlie Daehling (Madison), Cadet Dakota Cahill (Baraboo), and Cadet Natalie Marshall (Madison). Over the past few years, many military personnel have been deployed overseas in Iraq or fighting elsewhere against the war on terrorism. To thank and honor them the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics hosted a recognition reception for any UW Health faculty and staff member and/or their immediate family members who have served our country in recent years. Brief biographies were read and plaques were then handed out to the employees and their families in recognition of their dedication and service. “We came together today to honor and celebrate the men and women who give up the safety of home, family and normalcy in service of our country,” said William Schrum, a vice president of UW Medical Foundation, and himself a Vietnam War veteran. “To our service members, our veterans and their families, we say thank you. All of these people gave something for us.”
